In Rethymnon Town on the beach road (promenade) you find Taverna DOME, it is a pleasant place to enjoy your lunch or dinner. Located some 750 metres from the old harbour area on the right side of the road (coming from town). The taverna has tables next to open windows (alcoves) with direct sea and beach view. Dome has a friendly atmosphere with a pleasant and excellent service.
The owner Dimitris and Katerina the head waitress will make you feel at home and serve you with big smiles and good fresh food.
We were there yesterday and had “Gavros” the small fried fish you eat with bones and all, some chips and a pita with roast beef, tomatoes and cheese.
As is customary in Greece we shared the dishes between us and with the food we had “Shandy”, it is always nice and refreshing and the only way I will drink beer. I am a wine drinker, I love my cold white wine in the summer, But shandy is nice at lunch time.
We had not planned this lunch, but when we passed Dome, Katerina saw us passing by and offered us a drink on the house. I think Cretans invented hospitality. Sitting there with our Shandy, well we got hungry as we saw the dishes going to the tables around us, what aroma and of course that made us definitely hungry so lunch was ordered and thoroughly enjoyed.
The 2 mile long beach promenade in Rethymnon is packed with nice tavernas and cafes, bars, supermarkets and a variety of shops. There is something to satisfy any ones taste and what you really fancy.
Ask for Katerina and leave the rest to her, you will not be disappointed with the superb service or the mouth watering dishes on offer.
Dimitris and Katerina promised us that if you say you are with Amazing Crete Holidays! there will be a free drink for you too.
